Vegan Barbecue ColeslawBy JenThere's a lot of coleslaw recipes out there, but what makes this one a little different is that it's mixed with barbecue sauce (and it's vegan, of course) making it the perfect side or topper for all your barbecue-style seitan sandwiches!
Vegan Chicken Wings | Washed Flour SeitanBy JenThese vegan seitan wings get slow cooked in broth, then fried right before serving for an amazingly tasty result! I love them for game days, parties, or just about any time! (I mean, really, when are wings ever not awesome?!?)
Vegan ChiliBy JenNothing says hearty like a big bowl of vegan chili! This dish is perfect for using up leftover beef-style seitan, redeeming some seitan that maybe didn't come out perfectly, or even works great with Impossible Beef or your favorite vegan crumbles.
Porky PowderBy JenI've been trialing all kinds of ingredients to create a seasoning that would make a great base for seitan "pork" styles like chops and tenderloin. This one hits all the right notes for me - a little sweet, plenty savory and of course umami-packed!
Vegan Prime Rib(less) from Washed Flour 2By JenThis is a new version of my original vegan prime rib(less) roast made from washing flour. I subbed out fresh beetroot for powder to yield a firmer texture, as well as added more beefy flavoring to the mix. Still fancy enough for your holiday table, but easy enough to be enjoyed more often.
Vegan Roast Turkey II | Washed Flour SeitanBy JenThis is a slight variation to my first washed flour turkey recipe. I left out the mushrooms, started with a little more flour for a larger yield, and slightly adjusted the amount of seasonings and tofu. I really twisted the dough when knotting this one and wrapped in a cheesecloth to keep it from expanding in my slow cooker. I think this improved the texture, giving it a better "meat grain," but it's still just as flavorful and juicy as the original.
Vegan Palak Paneer with Creamy Wheat Starch CheeseBy JenThis vegan paneer is the creamiest version you will ever try! It's made from the leftover wheat starch water from washing flour, blended with tofu and coconut oil, and steamed to develop an amazingly cheesy texture. You can pan-fry it and add it to any of your favorite dishes, but of course I recommend this incredible Palak Paneer!
Vegan Cajun Deli-Style Turkey | Washed Four SeitanBy JenThis vegan, cajun, deli-style turkey gets simmered in a slow cooker in a delicious broth, then roasted to develop the crust. The chicken-style bouillon and extra swirls of cajun seasoning throughout really pack in the flavor!
Slow Cooker Italian Beef SeitanBy JenJust cause it's vegan doesn't mean it can't be beefy, spicy, juicy, and delicious! This Italian beef seitan made with vital wheat gluten and instant potato flakes will be a hit at your next party or potluck.
Vegan Chicken SatayBy JenMarinate your seitan in a delicious blend of lemongrass, shallots, herbs and spices, then skewer and grill to perfection to make this veganized chicken satay. Use the spicy peanut sauce as an amazing dip or salad dressing.
Vegan Fish SauceBy JenUse this simple vegan fish sauce as you would traditionally to enhance the flavors of any dish. This recipe gets its fishiness from kombu, umami from shiitake mushrooms, and has a little bit of sweet, sour, and savory to balance everything out.
Vegan Salami | Washed Flour SeitanBy JenThis peppery, garlicky, wine-infused vegan salami gets its fattiness and an extra boost of flavor from bits of provolone cheese. I'm calling it "Jen"oa-style. 🥴 🤣
Vegan Deli-Style Beef | Washed Flour SeitanBy JenIf you're looking for a flavorful, yet simple recipe for beef from washed flour, look no further! No need to worry about achieving the perfect oven temperature, frying or making a broth, because this seitan is cooked by wrapping and steaming. It slices up perfectly for sandwiches, or you can make thicker cutlets and fry them up for a quick steak-style seitan, too!
